Three of the holes are on USFS managed lands and consent
[o drill must come from them. The purpose of the degasification holes is to reduce methane in
the Bowie Mine. The area was surveyed for cultural resources and no sites were found at the
proposed drill sites or access roads. No wildlife surveys are needed.
The portion ofthe access road between drill holes GVB D4-A and GVB D6-A is within a slide
area. The road must be constructed in a manner to protect the spring, allow for drainage and
minimize future landslides. Once the holes are plugged, no longer needed for monitoring and
reclaimed, the roads must be reclaimed.
You are authorized to drill the degasification holes described in TR-20, CDMG Permit C-96-083.
Once the holes are producing, you must monitor the holes and provide volume, quality and any
other data collected on the methane being produced. This will provide baseline information for
the methane in the coal seam. Please contact Lynn Lewis (970) 240-5305 or Desty Dyer at (970)
240-5302 if you have any questions.
Sincerely yours,
Allan J.
