I therefore propose
/ the following change in the wording of the first para~ra~th.of Page 9 in Release Standards:
~ ~~r. -Delete the second sentence of the firsK paragraph and substitute the following.
~. ~~ In addition to achieving the revegetation standards, erosional damages (both old and
~~\ recent) moat be stabilized. Erosional damages shall inr]ude rill and gully erosion,
slope stumpage, and other forms of mass wasting. Erosional damages shall not
~U~~„p, include bench collapse provided the collapsed bench or portion of bench was properly
filled, topsoiled, and revegetation initiated prior to the collapse occurring and the
~'~ vegetation of the collapsed bench is recovering. ~ _ ~ _ _
]n my opinion, the original inclusion of "sediment discharge loads," is included in
"erosional damages." ]f erosion is cor.;rolled then sediment discharge levels should be about
what would be expected under natural conditions. This is probably best measured by
examining sediment basins to see if they contain large amounts of recently deposited sediment.

Respectfully,
~~ ~ ~G~~
Mark A.
