Box 167
Craig, Colorado 81626
Re: Ash Pit Backfilling and Grading Plan, Trapper Mine,
Permit No. C-81-010, Trapper Mining, Inc.
Dear Mr. Luke:
The Division has reviewed Trapper's submittal of revised map M-12,
entitled "Postmining Topography", which was a response to the
Division's midterm review letter of December 18, 1995. The subject
of a backfilling and grading plan for the ash pit had been in the
midterm review agenda, but, was moved out of that agenda in order
to expedite the midterm approval.
The Division agrees with Trapper that it would be best to deal with
this item in the upcoming permit renewal submittal. At that time,
a complete submittal, including revised maps, cross sections,
longitudinal profiles, material balance calculations and bond
calculations can be submitted. The present submittal of revised map
M-12 will not be incorporated into the permit application.
Finally, as we had discussed over the phone, in looking at the
proposed backfilling and grading plan, it appears that runoff from
the uppermost drainage could flow over the southernmost section of
the ash pit. Please review the proposed plan to ensure that no
runoff will flow onto the reclaimed ash pit.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
oseph !Y.
