(MCC) submits the enclosed Minor Revision application for an
expansion of the pazking azea to the south of the existing bath house/office pazking lot. Bin walls
will be required to maintain slope competency and sections of the in-place drainage system re-
established. Information from previous geotechnical investigations will be used in the construction
design of the parking lot and associated structures.
Mountain Coal Company (MCC) is proposing to construct these parking azeas in the NE `/4 of
Section 16 and SE r/4 of Section 9, of T.135, R.90W, 6`h Principal Meridian, Gunnison County,
Colorado. A surface map at the scale of 1" = 200' is provided to depict the general locations of the
proposed parking lot in relation to the existing surface structures, water diversion and other mine
features (Map 54). Approxiamtly 1.58 acres of expansion aze proposed for this revision.
The proposed project will be constructed on private property owned by Mountain Coal Company. It
will be used to accommodate personal vehicles of staff and visitors to the mine within Federal Coal
Lease COC-56447, held by Mountain Coal Company, L.L.C. The project azea is located within the
current Colorado Department of Mining and Geology (CDMG) permit azea (CDMG Permit C-80-
007). The proposed site is south of the existing bath house/office pazking lot; with sediment and
run-off diversion and control provided by diversion channel D1-2 and the existing 2-celled pond
(named MB-1). The parking lot is expected to be in use for the remainder of the mine life. Enclosed
aze three copies of the Application Form, and relevant maps.
Since construction will occur on a previously disturbed azea within the mine property, this minor
revision application does not propose an increase of disturbed lands. The pazking lot expansion will
be placed south of the existing pazking lot, with traffic entering from the Main Mine Access Road
and exiting from a ramp on the western end connecting to the existing pazking lot. Covered stairs
will provide pedestrian access between the two lots. The lot expansion will be teaz dropped shaped,
wider towards the west end, and capable of accommodating two rows of diagonal pazking spaces.
No new diversion structures will be needed as existing previously permitted ditches and pond are
capable of accommodating run-off associated with this watershed azea. Diversion ditch Dl-2 will be
