Hayoen
The Boards of Commissioners of Delta and Gunnison counties would like to express our support
for the evaulaGon of off-site cumulative impacts of the current and proposed mining activities in
the North Fork Valley.
We strongly encourage a joint effort between the BLM and Forest Service in this evaluation. We
would like to see the BLM as the lead agency in the process. It is also our interest and strong
desire to be included in the evaluation process.
Coal mining continues to be a vital part of the economies of both counties. It is our hope that this
process can be handled as quickly as possible to prevent any economic hardships on the
communities and corporations involved while still addressing the potential off-site impacts and
identifying appropriate mitigation measures in a comprehensive manner.
Sincerely,
DELTA COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
GUNNISON COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Donna R.
Jim D~/entrello, Vice-Chairman
~``~
Ted H.
