TRAPPER MININGr INC.
III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
August 6, ] 993
~~.,
Mr. Kent A. Gorham
Division of Minerals and Geology aUr ~ :y9~
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
ialYL.,,.i .. ~.~., ~.. ,.... _ ...-
Dear Mr. Gorham:
RE: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-81-010) MR-126
Ashmore Pit Mine Sequence and Diversion Ditch Changes
Enclosed please find updated maps M-51 (3 of 4), M-l0A (sheet 6) and M-10B (sheet 6), and updated page 4-174
(Table 4.8.1). This material is provided to illustrate permit changes to the active mining area of Ashmore Pit.
Individual permit changes are discussed below:
East Pveatt Diversion Ditch 1i3. As discussed in a previous revision (MR-122), enclosed Map M-51 gives a
new alignment of the subject diversion ditch from the north side of North A Haulroad to the south side. The
new alignment will create 1.0 acre of new disturbance not previously projected. The cost to reclaim this
additional 1.0 acre diversion ditch has been calculated at $2,014. The current surety bond for Trapper Mine
includes an excess of $119,530 above the worst case scenario for the five year bond term. Hence, $I 17,516
of excess bond still exists. Map M-51 also shows new projected culvert A-9 which has been engineered to
safely pass water under the North A Haulroad in accordance with the applicable design storm event (enclosed
Table 4.8. l ).
2. Ashmore Pit Mining Sequence Chanee. Map M-IOA, enclosed, outlines a small area to be mined in 1993 that
was originally projected to be mined in 1994. The area in question is shown as pit disturbance within the
1993 topsoil stripping area. (The coresponding area is deleted on the enclosed M-lOB map.) Coal will be
mined from this small area in 1993 so that a haulroad can be built across the site later in 1993. This mining
sequence change will avoid the necessity of disturbing this haulroad a[ a later date to extract coal from the
site. This area of shallow overburden will be mined with scrapers.
Please contact me if you have any questions or requve further information concerning this revision.
Sincerely,
`~ r `.~/ ~ri/i
Forest V.
