SENECA II-W PERMIT C-82-057
Technical Revision 31
Respoase to Divisioa of Minerals and Geology
07/22/98 Adequacy Letter
August 3, 1998
1. There is an area within the culvert watershed area which will
eventually be routed towards Pond 006 that was not accounted
for in our calculations. The reason it was not included in our
calculation is that this area will be diverted to Pond 006
within the next two years. However, we have revised our
calculation for the worst case which includes this area. The
additional area increased the peak discharge to 8.5 cfs which
is still within the capacity of the proposed 24" culvert. The
SEDCAD+ run for culvert H1 and Exhibit 13-20.1 have been
revised.
2. The haul road and ditches will be lined with gravel. The
limiting velocity for gravel lined ditches is 6 fps.
Therefore, SCC.does not anticipate excessive erosion problems.
However, SCC will carefully monitor the field installations to
ensure stable configurations.
3. As mentioned in response 1, there is an area that currently
drains to ditch HRDA-7 that will eventually be disturbed. When
this area is disturbed, stripping will be sequenced to ensure
that all runoff from disturbed areas are diverted to Pond 006.
This area was included in the Pond 006 watershed when Pond 006
was designed for phase IV conditions.
