;~ ~~
199880487
Lincoln County Road & Bridge
Vega Creek
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AUTHORIZED WORK
In accordance with the terms and conditions of this Department of the Army permit, Lincoln County Road
Department is granted authorization by the Secretary of the Army to impact waters of the United States in
conjunction with the Vega Creek sand mining project.
Lincoln County is authorized to mine sand out of Vega Creek for the next five yeazs to perform repays on
Lincoln County roads. This mining will be performed by using a bulldozer to push the surface sand into a
pile then afront-end loader will scoop the stockpiled sand up and load it on trucks to be taken to the needed
location. The actual mining boundaries will be approximately 800 yazds long, 60 yazds wide, and 6 feet
deep. Mining will not be performed during times the creek is flowing water. This project will not realign
the channel in any way. Therefor, caution will be exercised to maintain 4:1 slopes to the banks to prevent
degradation to them. The banks of the mining azea will be reclaimed by grading the bottom of the creek
smooth and slopping the banks to a minimum of 1 foot high to 4 feet vertical.
It is estimated that 7,500 cubic yards of sand and gravel will be removed on an annual basis impacting
approximately 3.3 acres of Vega Creek. However, the affected pit area is 9.9 acres.
The project will not impact any wetlands. Therefor, wetland mitigation will not be required.
4.
