The wami-
season grass standard is achieved by blue grama with 11.17 percent relative cover. One perennial forb,
hairy golden aster, having a relative cover of 3.35 percent, satisfies the perennial grass or shrub standard.
The species diversity standard on the Barren Ridge/Revision 1 Reclaimed Area was achieved during the
2003 sampling event. The four cool-season grasses that satisfy standard and their corresponding relative
cover values are: western wheatgrass (30.77 percent), hidiau ricegrass (8.21 percent), green needlegrass
(8.21 percent), and intermediate wheatgrass (4.62 percent). The warm-season grass standard is met by
blue grams (3.08 percent) and the perennial grass/shrub standard is satisfied by big sagebrush (11.79
percent). Table A-3 summarizes the majority of species sampled in the reclaimed area with their
corresponding relative cover.
TABLE A-3
CHIMNEY ROCK MINE -
DRYLAND RECLAIMED AREAS
SUMMARY OF RELATIVE COVER VALUES; 2003 POINT-INTERCEPT TRANSECTS
Reclaimed
Area Perennial
Grasses Relative
Cover (%) Perennial
Forbs & Shrubs Relative
Cover (%)
East Pit Western wheatgrass 18.44 Hairy golden aster 3.35
Blue grams 11.17 Alfalfa 2.23
h3tem~ediate wheatgrass 5.59 Wild prickly rose 1.12
Canada wildrye 5.59
Indian ricegrass 4.47
Meadow fescue 3.35
Barren Ridge/ Western wheatgrass 30.77 Big sagebrush 11.79
Revision 1
Indian ricegrass 8.21 Wild prickly rose 1.03
Green needlegrass 8.21 Alfalfa 0.51
Intermediate wheatgrass 4.62
Blue grams 3.08
A complete list of all vegetative species encountered during the 2003 sampling event, including scientific
names, is presented on Tables A-10 and A-11.
For a detailed summary of absolute and relative cover for al] species detected during the 2003 sampling
event, refer to Tables A-4, A-6, and A-8.
053-Chimney Rock_P113 BON D_2003_(Jan.22A4)a A-5
