~.
rj SECTION 6.0
ii IN3TRIIMENTATION AND CONTROL
j
6.1 OPERATING CONTROLS C
J slurry F1oW Rate
The flow of slurry through the pH Adjustment System is
determined by the ore feed rate to the upstream process.
There is no independent control of slurry flow rate through
the system. For flow data, see Section 3.0.
D Air spurge Rate
7
7
J

The air sparged into the pH Adjustment Tank is provided by
a lobe-type blower, 04-CP-03. The four sparg{e pipes are
fitted with Mast=gates for flow balancing, but blower
output is fixed. See Section 3.0 for data.~~ a,~,,~,,,,,. d.~lP„Ir
Air Temperature and Pressure ~ t ~•,~ r~+~:
IK,~.~ a:.•~~
Temperature and pressure of the spurge air arse indicated
locally downstream of the blower silencer (TI 434 and PI 433
respectively). ~ ~ rG.(,t I
/ I ~i
µµ Y/ N
slurry pH v ~ ~luw ~nN, '~
5 ~l s
A pH probe (AE 435) is located in the feed laumder to the
carbon safety screen 04-SC-lo, measuring the pH of the
slurry stream discharging from the pH Adjustment Tank. The
pH signal is used to open and close valve A 435 in the
delivery line from the Sulfuric Acid Metering Pump 06-PP-
32. The valve opens when the pH reaches 8.9 and closes when
the pH has fallen to 8.5.
scrubber Solution p8
A pH probe (AE 405) is located in the scrubber solution
recycle line. The pH signal is used to open or close valve
HV 436 in the delivery line from the Sodium Hydroxide
metering Pumps 06-PP-37 or 38. The valve opens when the pH
falls to 10.5 and closes when the pH reaches 11.5.
pj/1481rp 012591
6-1
D
