~ke and Gesso, LLC
Mobile Premix Concrete, Inc., a subsidiary of Lafarge North America Inc., is
applying for an amendment to a Regular 112 Permit (M-83-067) to mine sand
and gravel on a 52-acre parcel in unincorporated Adams County near
Henderson. The original 112 Permit for this site was issued to Western Paving
Construction Company in 1982 and is still valid. Westem Paving has since
merged into Mobile Premix Concrete, which has been subsequently acquired by
Lafarge North America Inc.
The Applicant wishes to use the property for sand and gravel mining and
processing. The property is expected to yield approximately 1,500,000 tons of
aggregate, with the I'rfe of the operation lasting between three to eight years.
The property has been historically used for agriculture and livestock storage and
has several wire and wood fences. There are no existing occupied buildings on
the property and no new permanent buildings are planned. All existing structures
and fences can-ently located within the site will be removed prior to mining
operations.
The property is in an area that has been historically mined and is located in an
underlying Mineral Conservation District. The proposed project provides an
excellent opportunity to improve the bank of the South Platte River (with the
cooperation of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District) and will ultimately
result in the creation of an amenity for the area in the form of a water storage
reservoir with some wildlife habitat.
smgeooagb Mina - rtepmar ~+z Pertnx o+0as
MobOe Pnmh Concrete Inc 1 November, 2007
