Long
Din sion Director
This letter is to inform you that the Colorado Division of Minerals
and Geology has received a bond reduction request for the North
Thompson Creek Mines. The sites for which the bond release is
being requested are the North Thompson Creek mine site and the unit
train loadout. The mine site is located in Pitkin Couty in
Sections 34 and 35, T SS, R 89W, 6th PM. The loadout site is
located in Garfield County in Section 6, T 8S, R 88W and Sections
20, 29, 30 and 32, T 75, R SSW, 6th PM.
MINREC, Inc. has requested that the Division reduce the bond from
$393,000 to $115,000 based on vegetation studies conducted during
1991 and 1992 which proposes that the vegetation established on
site is adequate to control erosion and prevent excess sediment
loading to North Thompson Creek.
The Division is required to conduct a bond release inspection
pursuant to Rule 3.03.2(2). The inspection will be held on October
6, 1993. The surface owner and agent or lessee may participate
with the Division in making the inspection. If such parties are
interested, please contact me at the above (303) 866-3567 X353.
Sincerely,
Barbara L. Pavlik
Reclamation Specialist
