Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 4, 2004, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered <br />submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. The three <br />proposed gob vent borehole drill sites are in the southwest comer of the permit area. Of these three gob vent <br />boreholes, two are located on land owned liy BRL while one is on land managed by the Bureau of Land <br />Management (BLM). Right of entry to the BLM site is through Federal Coal Lease COC-61209. Two of the sites <br />will be on existing drill sites and one will be on a wide section of the road. Therefore, there will not be any new <br />surface disturbance associated with these three drill sites. The four deleted exploration drill sites were proposed <br />for the Terror Creek area. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 22, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />Because the above referenced technical revision application would alter previously approved permit conditions or <br />mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's evaluation of the proposal. <br />Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources information, the fish and <br />Office of Office of Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey <br />
