Box 535 <br />Somerset CO 81434 <br />RE: Sanborn and Elk Creek Mines, Permit No. C-1981-022 <br />Addendum to Preliminary Adequacy Letter PR-OS Application <br />Dear Ms. Welt: <br />As indicated by recent telephone conversations, the Division is forwarding comments from the <br />Office of Surface Mining on additional materials that will be required with your application to <br />enable the OSM to evaluation a mine plan change. <br />The application package must contain the following <br />(1) The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) approval regarding the Resource <br />Recovery and Protection Plan for compliance with the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920, as <br />amended, and 43 CFR Part 3480. <br />DIVISION O F <br />MINERALS <br />GEOLOGY <br />RECLAMATION <br />MINING•SAFETY <br />Bill Owens <br />Governor <br />Greg E. Cattany <br />Acting Division Director <br />(2) The U.S. Forest Service's and BLM's concurrence with the approval of the mining <br />plan with respect to the management of federally owned surface lands under their control. <br />(3) The U.S.Fish andWildlife Service (LJSFWS) regarding threatened and endangered <br />species and the development or recommendation of any species-specific protective <br />measures in accordance with the Sept 24, 1996, Biological Opinion and Conference <br />Report and, <br />(4) the State Historic Preservation Officer's (SHPO) assessment and recommendations <br />for protection of cultural resources. <br />The Division has forwarded a request for comments to the agencies noted above.
