From: Jim Stover To: DMG Date: 10/10100 Time: 7: t0:38 PM Page 2 of 2
_ ' • •
David Berry - 2 - October 10, 2D00
BRL performed a water depletion analysis as part of permit revision PR-03 late in1999.
The water depletion estimate is based upon longwall mining at the rate of 5.0 million tons
per year. The water depletion estimate is located in Volume i of the permit beginning on
page 2.04-56. The estimated annual depletion is 236.6 acre-feet. The FWS prepared a
Biological Opinion dated December 10, 1999. This document is located in Volume III of
the permit atTab 9.
There will be no change in the water consumption at the Bowie No. 2 Mine as a result of
the approval of TR-018. Mining methods and production remain the same (longwall and
5.0 mm tons per year) and the basis for the water depletion estimate remains valid.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
J. E. Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
cc: Wm. A. Bear, Jr.
