• Soils Information
organic matter and probably a fairly large seed bank. Salvage of the Tolman series can be done where
feasible.
Soils in the Oakbrush dominated pockets on the east facing slopes between upland ridF;es can be
salvaged. These are undoubtedly the best soils on the site for revegetation purposes, as they are in a
topographic configuration similar to the condition that will exist on a quarry bench. Unfortunately, these
soils are very limited in volume as they form the smallest unit on the site.
Soil Properties
The following tables list various properties of the soils on the site. The tables include the Coldcreek,
Tolman, Kutler, and Broadmoor series, although only the first two are highly relevant as t}ie last two are
uncommon.
Potential Production (pounds/acre)
favorable year normal year unfavorable year
Tolman 900 700 500
Kutler 2000 1500 700
Coldcreek not suitable for forage
Broadmoor not suitable for forage
Woodland Management
Erosion Seedling Plant Competition Species
hazard mortality
Coldcreek severe slight slight Douglas Fir, Ponderosa
Pine
Broadmoor severe moderate slight Douglas Ftr Ponderosa
Pine,
White Fir
Kutler generally not suitable
Tolman generally not suitable
Menzer Quarry Amendment Exhibit I Page 3
