<br /> <br />Proposed Decision <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is proposing to approve a partial Phase II Bond <br />Release for the Canadian Strip Mine. The Canadian Strip Mine is currently permitted by <br />Slurco Corporation, P.O. Box 281304, Lakewood, CO 80228. The permit number for this mine <br />site is C-81-026. The Canadian Strip Mine is located approximately 12 miles east of Walden, <br />Colorado. The area of the permit issued by the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology for <br />the mine lies in portions of Sections 2, 10, and 11, Township 8 North, Range 78 West, 6th P.M. <br />The permit area currently encompasses 155 acres. <br />The amount of area currently disturbed at the Canadian Mine is approximately 87 acres. The <br />Division proposes to approve a Phase II Bond Release fora 55.13-acre parcel known as Area IV <br />and a 2.06-acre parcel lmown as Pond 3. Upon final approval of this proposed decision, all <br />87 acres of the area currently disturbed at the mine site will have achieved a Phase II Bond <br />Release. Phase III Bond Release, the final stage of the state reclamation bond release process, has <br />not yet been granted to any part of the mine site. <br />The Division currently holds a performance bond in the amount of $235,132.00. The Division <br />proposes to release $123,164.00 from this bond. The Division will retain $111,968.00 for the <br />Canadian Mine permit. <br />Persons interested in filing a request for an adjudicatory heazing to be held before the Colorado <br />Mined land Reclamation Boazd in regazd to this proposed decision must do so within 30 days of <br />the first publication of this public notice. Requests for adjudicatory hearings must state with <br />specificity the reasons why the hearing is being requested. Hearings may be held in the locality of <br />the permit area or the state capitol at the option of the person requesting the hearing. Requests for <br />adjudicatory hearings should be submitted to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203. <br />\BIW\CANADIAN.PD <br />
