Through Amendment 5, the permit holder,
Sunnyside Gold Corporation, proposes to modify the post-mining land use and reclamation plan for a
portion of the permit area located near the historic town site of Gladstone, San Juan County,
Colorado. The Board decided to continue the issue to the November 19-20, 2003 Board meeting.
During the hearing, Mr. Todd C. Hennis, an objector to the amendment application, stated that Region
9 might be foreclosing on their loan with Mr. Stephen C. Fearn, President of Gold King Mines
Corporation. Gold King Mines Corporation owns lands and buildings located within the Sunnyside
Mine permit area and addressed by the amendment application.
DMG would appreciate clarification from Region 9 regarding the status of Mr. Fearn's relationship with
Region 9. Any information provided by Region 9 will become part of the public file for the amendment
application.
Gold King Mines Corporation holds a permit on the Gold King Mine, Permit No. M-1986-013, and
Minnehaha Mine, Permit No. M-1981-062. Mr. Fearn also serves as president of The Silver Wing
Company, Inc., who holds the permit for Pride of the West Mill, Permit No. M-1984-049. All of the
above referenced permit areas are located in San Juan County.
Please contact me at the DMG Durango Office, 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301,
phone (970) 247-5469, if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Wallace H.
