Bob Oswald
Re: St. Jude Mine, Permit M-1978-039 ~
Request for Technical Revision
relieve compaction and to provide a seed bed. Upon completion of grading and scarifying, the
disturbed areas will be seeded by broadcast seeding, followed by light harrowing or dragging to
embed seeds,
Reclamation Seed Mix: Adjoining mine sites in the local area have differing reclamation
seed mixes in the permit reclamation plans. The Operator proposes to "standardize" the seed
mix to be used in the area of the Sunday group of mines. The proposed seed mix is derived from
the existing mixes in the permits held by the Operator and from recent experience with the
proposed general mixture. The following seed mix is proposed:
Western Wheatgrass:
Crested Wheatgrass:
Indian Ricegrass:
Yellow Sweet Clover:
Four Wing Saltbush:
Sand Dropseed:
61bs/acre PLS
6 Ibs/acre PLS
3 lbs/acre PLS
1 Ib/acre PLS
4 lbs/acre PLS
0.2 lb/acre PLS
The general method for applying seed will be to use an All Terrain Vehicle ("ATV") or other
specially adapted implement suited for broadcast seeding operations. ATV's provide a great deal
of flexibility and mobility for working on slopes. ATV's also can be used for harrowing or
dragging to cover seed.
We look forward to working with you to process this Technical Revision request. Upon reaching
agreement on the perimeter for the Permit boundary, I will get our surveyor to set corners so the
Permit boundary will be identifiable in the field.
Sincerely,
/~j""
Terry V.
