Consequently, dte
Dillons already have a 3.9 c.f.s. of this water, and in the near tens will receive the other 3.9 c.fs., for a
total of 7.8 c.fs. of"free" water. White the water is for irrigation purposes under the Decree, we feel that
a portion of the water can be rnnverted to a storage right if that ever becomes necessary.
With respect to the late opposition letters regarding evaporation losses, those losses Lave already
been determined by the Division of Water Resources. The Dillons have been issued a well permit which
is part of the application that allows them evaporation not to exceed 123 acre feet during the mining
operations and 101.5 acres feet after mining operations are completed, with a total surface area limited to
45 acres. For your information, 1 c.fs. of water for a year is equivale~ to 724 acre feet. A eonvetsion of
0.25 c.f.s. of water to a storage right would equal 181 aerafeet, or 2,172 acre inches.
The evaporation issue aside, 1 am enclosing sixl photographs of ponds in dre Dahon Ranch
Subdivision which are fed primarily with ground water. These photos demonstrate what the Dillon pond
may look like except it will be larger. 1 am also enclosing copies of two photos showing a gravel pit that
was reclaimed in Mesa County close to the Colorado River! where apparently the only source forthat pond
water is ground water.
Finally, per your request, I am enclosing copies of~preliminary plats for.
i
A. The overall project area. ~
I
13. A survey plat of the proposed pond.
C. A survey plat of the processing azea.
I,
D. Separate metes and bounds description for~the pond and processing area.
The metes and bounds description dots not irtrJude the proposed rivet crossing and the proposed
access because the Army Corps of Engineers mayrequita a~minor change in location However, this is the
area in which the Dillons intend to obtain their proposed river crossing.
I
If you need anything further, please advise. ~
Very ~~-.,~~.Irns,
Franlc•~J Aacsi
FJA:mslc
Enclosures
cc: Dillon Ranches
~j
