These are shown in the enclosed packet. The new total reclamation bond estimate is
$33,409.
As before, the packet consists of a summary sheet showing all task costs plus the indirect and contractor costs. This
is followed by the individual task sheets and the equipment production sheets. You may note that these are
consistent with the tasks we discussed for the recent recalculations for the Topaz Mine and the Sunday Mine. The
enclosed costs also reflect a significant increase from the costs in the previous recalculation (dating from 1997).
The recalculation includes dozing of the dumps to a maximum gradient of 2:1. Minimal grading is considered
necessary on the tops of the dumps, and no grading is included for the northern azeas where the water bars and
catch pond are. All dozing is performed with a D6. Since there is currently no topsoil stockpile, there is no topsoil
replacement task, though if topsoil resources are encountered during future development of the site, such topsoil
must be salvaged. The primary ridge road crossing the site will not be reclaimed, nor will the culvert on the road to
the St Jude mine be removed.
This isyour notice of bond increase. The existing bond is a corporate surety in the amount of $16,236. This new
recalculation indicates the current reclamation costs to be S33,409, which is an increase of $17,173. Please provide
a rider to your corporate surety reflecting the new total bond amount. The increase must be submitted and accepted
by the Division within 60 days of the date of this letter.
If you have questions about the bond forms or procedures, please contact Ms. Suzi Ericksen at the Division's
Denver office (see letterhead address, above) or by telephone: 303-866-4920. If you have questions about the bond
figures contained in the enclosed packet, you may reach me at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del
Rio, Room 125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193.
Sincerely,
~-
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: reclamation cost packet (TR-Ol)
Office of Off ce of
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines
