• INTRODUCTION
The Anderson Pit is located approximately 2.5 miles northeast of the town of Delta in Delta
County, Colorado. The site is currently a pemutted sand and gravel mining operation operating
under Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DBMS) permit No. M-2005-021,
which was issued to Oldcastle SW Group, Inc., dba United Companies of Mesa County (United
Companies) on February 1, 2006. United Companies is also the operator of the pit.
Under the current DBMS reclamation permit, the permitted acreage is 161.86 acres. This
amendment will increase the acreage of the existing permit by 82.76 acres to a total of 244.62
acres.
The acreage to be added to the existing permit is located immediately east of the current permit
boundary and is currently owned by Mazlyn and Mazgazet McGrath. United Companies
however, is in the process of purchasing the property with closing currently scheduled for May
. 2007. In the meantime, the McGrath's have signed an access agreement to allow United
Companies to wnduct mining operations on this property. A copy of this agreement is enclosed
in Exhibit N, Legal Right-to-Enter.
The new permit boundary will extend east from the northeast comer of the existing permit
boundary to approximately forty feet west of the centerline of 1800 Road, then south to the
southeast wrner of the existing permit boundary where the access road to the current mining
operation has been constructed.
As indicated in previous pazagraphs, the post-mining land use will remain the same. The post-
mining land use will consist of a man-made lake for wildlife habitat, and dry rangeland. Upon
completion of mining, the pit will be allowed to fill with water and a wetland fringe will be
established azound the perimeter. Several peninsulas and possibly a small island will be created
with overburden and topsoil which will be removed as a consequence of mining.

Anderson Pit, Apri107
