4. Post-Reclamation Site Drainase
•
i•
Maps C-2 and F show arrows indicating the approximate direction of drainage throughout the
pit. The final reclamation will be graded so that drainage water will go to the lake.
5. Weed Control
United Companies will take measures to ensure that the land affected by the mining operation is
free of weed infestations. Currently there aze several problematic weeds present within the
general area where the permit will apply that have been identified by Delta County Weed
Control. The two species are Russian Knapweed and Whitetop. Any infestations of these weeds
will be removed prior to mining and will be monitored after reclamation has occurred. In order
to control problematic weeds, a plan has been put in place which the operator commits to follow.
This plan is outlined in the table below.
Table E-2
S ecies Herbicide Control
Spray in spring and fall. Spring application will be
Russian Knapweed Curtail or Redeem during the budding stage and the later application
will be a roximatel ei t weeks later.
Whitetop Escort Spray mid-April to mid-May during the late bolt
before flowers a ear.
Canada Thistle Curtail or Redeem Spray in May during the late bolt period before
flowers a ear.
Hydro-ax to mulch in permit azea. Spray will be
applied within ten minutes of the cutting. If any
regrowth occurs in undisturbed areas, spray will be
Tamarisk and Arsenol Garlon 3a applied by a licensed contractor since this is an
Russian Olive aquatic licensed herbicide. These weeds will be
treated either during the summer or fall months
prior to the most active growth period when the
leaves fall.
During all phases of the mining operation, the permit azea will be monitored closely every yeaz
which the permit is active to determine if there are any additional weeds invading the azea.
Weed control will again be initiated if the problem becomes serious. The DRMS will be
consulted regazding any additional weed infestation azea and any control measures prior to their
Anderson Pit, Apri107 E-5
