(Golder) has prepazed this letter report for the Cripple Creek & Victor Gold
Mining Company (CC&V) to present the design of the modified Amendment No. 7 (CC&V 1998)
boundary for the Cresson Project Valley Leach Facility (VLF). The modified VLF boundary has been
designed to meet the same design concepts and project specifications as presented and approved for
Amendment No. 8 (CC&V 2000) of the Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) permit
M-1980-244.
MODIFIED VLF DESIGN
The design of the modified VLF boundary is presented in Drawing Nos. 1 through 3, included as
Attachment A. The modified VLF boundary is located neaz the southwest comer of the existing VLF,
at the existing Phase II and III contact (Drawing No. 2). The grading plan for the modified VLF
boundary is presented on Drawing No. 2. The modified boundary will consist of 30,015 squaze feet
within the approved Amendment 8 footprint, and 38,685 squaze feet outside the Amendment 8
footprint, but within the Amendment 7 footprint. The total modified VLF boundary azea is within the
Amendment 7 approved azea.
The modified VLF boundary area will require minor regrading to provide gravity drainage and to tie
into the existing VLF liner system. The azea will be lined using the same basic composite liner system
approved and constructed for the Ore Storage Area, with an allowance to use either 80-mil or 100-mil
textured Lineaz Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) geomembrane liner. Details of the liner system
and anchor trench aze presented on Drawing No. 3. The modified VLF azea will be constructed
following the project specifications in Amendment No. 8, as approved.
Given the small size of the extension and low ore loads on the liner, neither a leak detection trench
' nor an underdrain trench is needed, therefore these features are not included in the design. Solutions
collected onto the lined area will be routed to the Phase II Pregnant Solution Storage Area (PSSA),
via gravity flow.
II
' I:b4~2251~0100U1odAm]-0902040432251.0100.t19]2ModAm]-090204.docGolder Associates
