~s
EXIiIBIT I - SOILS IPIFORf9ATI0hi
Exhaustive soil surveys have not been done on much of the land
in the Uravan tiineral Belt, however some general information has been
taken from Soil Consevation Service maps developed through a combin-
ation of detailed soil surveys, reconnaissance soil surveys, and
and by interpretation.
Two major units, as described by the General Soil htap of the
Dolores River Uasin, may be found in the region of the Sf•1-18 (dine.
Unit lt3 is categorized as "rock outcrop and very shallow soils
of the canyons," while Unit /14 is "moderately dark-colored deep
soils of the mesas and valleys." The table on the following page
describes each unit.
f•tore specifically, the liontrose County General Soii flap locates
the mining property within the following units:
1) Haplargids-Torriorthents -Rock outcrop association:
warm, deep to shallow, well drained, gently sloping and
moderately steep soils and rock outcrop on mesas, benches
and canyons
2) Torriorthents-Rock outcrop association: warm, shallow,
well drained, sloping to steep soils and rock outcrop on
breaks and canyons
(It is important to note that that the above units describe
large general areas of land of which the S'1-18 property is a very
small part.)
At the actual portal site the soils are light-colored, varying
from a sandy loam to a loam of slightly higher clay content.
.•
