EXHIBIT D
'.i' '.MINING ~: ELAN
The Conejos County Road and Bridge Department is planning an expansion of an existing Gravel
Pit as a Primary source of Gravel on the South east side of the County. Mining will continue
from where it starts in the northeast half or the permit area and continue going west and to tl
south boundary. Depth of Gravel extends to approximately twenty (20) feet throughout-.:the
allotted.parcel. Pit run from gravel will last approximately Forty (40) Yr based on new
expansion and estimated annual usage. It is estimated the active mining will take place about
180 days per year.
Top soil (what exists) will be removed and stockpiled prior to surface disturbance. Top soil
will be stored on 100 foot strips of permit area. Top soil will be used for reclamation.
Top soil stockpiles will not exceed a height of 10 to 12 feet to lessen their visual impact.
Operations will be conducted with a rubber tire loader that will be used year round to
stockpile and load material.
Loader outloading will be (8) yard single axle dump trucks and (16) yard dual axle dump trucks.
During operation, the pit sides will be back sloped to aid in safety and facilitate.
reclamation. No water diversion or inpoundment will be necessary a total of 50 acres will be
ultimately disturbed by mining activities.

JAN 2 ? 2007
D ~f°'o~ of C~ , ! ~~ a ~}ipn
M..iin~ a7id :.u,..~~
