VEGETATION INFORMATION
EXHIBIT J
Historically, the permit azea has been used as irrigated fields, however since 1994, the site has
been used solely as a gravel mining operation. Areas within the permit area which have not been
disturbed consist primarily of irrigated land on the southeast comer. Prior to gravel mining
operations, crops within the field rotated annually. Fields to the south primarily consist of alfalfa
and hay. To the east of the permit azea is a low lying wetlands area which leads up to the
Uncompahgre River. Primarily to the north and west, there are residential and commercial
properties. Both landowners, Jutten and United Companies, own water rights from the Ouray
Ditch to allow the irrigation.
All vegetation communities can be seen on Map C-1 Pre-Mining Plan Map. Below aze several
pictures which show the vegetation communities in the proximity of the permit area.
RECEIVED
nEC ~ i Zoos
Divi5i0n of Reclematlon,
Mining and Safety
Colona Pit November 06 J-1
