We have reviewed the submitted materials and offer the following comments. <br /> I. Restoration of the site is critical following such a large land disturbance. It is important <br /> that the proposed plan be implemented as stated. It is vital that the full 6 to 8 inches of <br /> topsoil be placed on the laud prior to revegetation. Less than the proposed 6 to 8 inches <br /> of topsoil will likely result in a sparsly vegetated surface similar to other areas <br /> previously vegetated in this mining area. Reestablishment .of a wildlife habitat or <br /> agricultural primary fulme use will be difficult with a sparse stand of grass. <br /> 2. Following a visit to the site, it is apparent that there is minimal topsoil available for use <br /> on the land. Will soils be imported to the site? Will the revegetated site be irrigated? <br /> What is the proposed ground cover(seed mix) fi r the restoration? <br /> 3. Fstablishment of an agricultural and wildlife !:al ilat use will be difficult with a thin layer <br /> of a poor quality soil (rocky, clayey). <br /> It is the recommeudation of the Boulder Valley Soil Conservation District Board of Directors <br /> that the Applicant be required to place a I: .uinrum of 6 to 8 inches of topsoil on all disturbed <br /> areas within the Deepc Farm Pit prior to re-seeding the area with an appropriate seed mix. <br /> Singe rely, <br /> ack Wheeler, President <br /> Boulder Valley SCD <br /> CONSERVATION - DEVELOPMENT - SELF GOVERNMENT <br />
