90 O1i18 18:03 S 303 985 994? SRK GENUER
• •.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
ADEQUACY RESPONSES - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
PAGE 6 OF 7
The Division's concern was that the V-shaped channels would promote
erosion. Given the low velocities and the intent that the channel would
be overtopped in a large storm event, erosion 1s not expected to occur in
the channels. The channels will be monitored for sediment build-up and
erosion until reclamation release, If either of these conditions occurs,
the channel design will be re-evaluated.
43. Responses to e, b and care satisfactory. The information wanted in comment
d was the velocity for the PMP event in the grassed area and not the
velocity fer the ]00 year 24 hour event. Please provide. Figure f-3 should
be revised to show the energy dissipation structure at the base of the
spillway. In addition, the )ow flow spillway should be constructed in the
center of the spillway rather than off to one side.
The peak discharge onto the tailings disposal area is estimated at 9,220
cfs during the PMP event. Routing of the flow through the tailings disposal
area and reclamation spillway will reduce the peak discharge to 6,220 cfs
in the spillway. A discharge velocity of 8.1 feet per second is expected
1n the revegetated section of the channel during the PMP event. Attachment
3 presents the velocity calculations.
ee
44. The comment was satisfactorily addressed in the January 9, 1990 submittal.
45. Jhe comment was satisfactoriiy addressed in the January 9, 1990 submittal.
46. Revised Exhibit L has not yet been provided.
Based on agreement of the reclamation plan for the tailings disposal Brea,
Exhibit L, Reclamation Costs, will be presented for review.
49.
