DMG inspected the temporary acid dosing facilities to be used
during the constmction of the upgraded acid delivery system in October, 2004. This letter certifies the
completion of the upgrade to this Environmental Protection Facility (EPF) in accordance with Rule
7.3.2(2).
Construction of these upgrades has followed [he original plans with two minor changes as noted below:
1. Four 5 to 50 psi backpressure valves have been added to the circuit immediately off the discharge
of the acid feed pumps. In order to install these valves, the initial piping off of the pump dischazge
points, is threaded stainless steel. This will allow for fine tuning of the acid feed system and
prevent spikes in acid feed through the pumps.
2. The discharge line from TK-02 was routed to the pump clear well and back into the treatment
system via the 5-Dam seep pump-back under the building instead of to the pond. This will
eliminate the possibility of shearing the PVC line due to ice shift in the clearpond.
Imegrity testing of the existing tank was performed as part of the project. Copies of [he integrity tests are
included. A set of as-built drawings will be submitted to the Division upon their completion
I certify that the Mayflower Acid Dosing Plam Upgrades were completed according to the construction
drawings with the two minor changes noted above. Climax is planning to cease operation of the temporary
system and initiate operations with the Mayflower Acid Dosing Plam Upgrades by the end of February,
2005. As such, Climax is requesting expediting acceptance of this certification by the Division.
Sincerely, '
~~
Tavis D.
