These will be addressed on technical revisions as follows :
1. Under 3.1.5(9) regarding imported offsite materials, Neil proposes to haul imported
material to be used crushing operations or back-fill. Materials such as broken concrete,
rock or dirt would be used for back-fill. Back-fill would be placed at a location
approximately the middle of pit on the west side and continue to the north property line
and east to CR 501. Material would be temporarily stockpiled in floor of pit and placed
in 3 to 1 slope after gravel is mined out. Back-fill would be machine compacted with 12"
of topsoil and seeded as specified in Reclamation Permit. Proposed activity would begin
approximately 11/15/04 and concluded when final pit reclamation completed. The
approximate volume of material used for this operation, 8000 yazds.
2. Also, Neil is proposing to allow high wall to be 45' tall if needed because gravel seam is
getting deeper as excavation goes north. Also, allow length of high wall to be 500'
instead of permitted 300'.
3. Noxious Weed Control Plan will be addressed by following these guidelines:
Apply Curtail Herbicide to noxious weeds in spring and fall of every year. Curtail
Herbicide is recommended by Customized Weed Spraying of Durango, CO. This does
not kill grasses and also will not migrate to other plants and will not get into storm water
run-off when applied when dry. Spraying of noxious weeds was done in August of 2004
and is scheduled for another application in the spring and fall of 2005.
4. Erosion gullies on slopes will, on a regulaz basis, be addressed by installing check dams
at different intervals on slope with major drainage problems diverted away from non-
vegetated slopes.
Th you, ~ ~~/~"'I
Bruce E.
