Box 1877
Rifle, Co]orado 81650
Re: West Rifle Pit, Permit No. M-1981-006, Technical Revisioa, TR-02, Change to Kline Plan,
Approval.
Dear Mr. Lee:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has reviewed the submission by Central Aggregates of
a Technical Revision to change the approved Mining Plan. Specifically, the change will allow for the
excavation of what is now the office /staging area within the permit area. As part of the submission,
Central Aggregates notes no utility interference and consultations with Union Pacific Railroad.
Division staff is pleased to inform Central Aggregates that TR-02 is approved. The current bond will be
recalculated to ensure it is sufficient to cover reclamation, but a large portion of the additional
excavation will be additional lake surface area. Central Aggregates is currently in the process of getting
a welt permit for the site. The Division wilt require that a copy of the permit be forwarded to it and that
it demonstrates that the total acreage for this site plus the l l lc permitted area with this addition are
covered in the augmentation and well permit once approved. Failure to demonstrate sufficient coverage
under the water well permit will require the Division to calculate a bond for the importation of enough
materials to backfill sufficiently to meet the well coverage requirements. This is very expensive so
please ensure the proper total surface area exposure is covered.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
telephone no. 970-24 L-1117.
Sincerely,
G.
