Under normal
operations used oil will be placed in 55 gallon drums and transported off-site.
• As per our discussion on June 27, 1985, WFC has plugged and abandoned the cased
well in the area of the proposed site. In addition, the east-west drainage on the north side
of the dump will be maintained rather than filled in as shown on Figure I from Map L3A
submitted on June 27, 1985. Maintaining this drainage will allow flow on the north side of
the dump into the eastern most evaporation pond. Drainage from the south side of the
dump will be picked up by the road paralleling the southern edge of the dump. As you are
aware, no drainage from this west portal area can exit the property. It is either caught by
the eastern most evaporation ponds or it passes down into the storage yard area just to
the east of the proposed non-coal waste dump.
In addition, as per your and Mr. Squire's request, prior to disposal of non-coal waste
material in the area of the existing pond this pond will be drained. In regard to topsoil
salvage and reclamation of the non-coal waste disposal area, I addressed this reclamation
in my latest draft submittal to you regarding long term reclamation at the New Elk Mine.
I hope this answers all questions on the minor revision for non-coal waste disposal. If you
have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sine
David M.
