This revision accounts for the current (2006) reclamation status of
the Tailings Disposal Area and incorporates current wage and equipment rates. Since
concurrent reclamation practices were conducted during operations (i.e. 1990-1996)
and post-mine reclamation has continued after the October 1996 suspension of
operations, considerable reclamation obligations associated with the mining and
beneficiation operations have been completed.
The Steffen, Robertson, and Kirsten (SRK) reclamation cost estimate (SRK, 1994)
and the revised cost estimate in TR-26 (2000) have been used as a template for this
estimate.
L.1 Unit Costs -Earthwork
Current hourly rates for earth moving equipment have been obtained from San Luis
Valley (SLV) Earthmovers of Monte Vista, CO. SLV Earthmovers has been
contracted to complete site reclamation activities. All calculated unit rates for
reclamation construction assume the use of SLV Earthmover equipment.
