(See Figure 2). <br /> 1.2 Geosynthetle Materials <br /> One type of geomembrane material was submitted to Golder for use in the testing <br /> process. The type of geomembrane was linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). The <br /> specifics are shown below: <br /> 80 mil LLDPE Textured on one side. <br /> 2.0 Test Apparatus <br /> The apparatus used in for this test consists of a 10 inch inside diameter steel tube, <br /> approximately 18 inches in height. A series of pictures showing the testing cell at <br /> various stages of assembly are shown in Figures 3a and 3b. The cell is attached to the <br /> base plate with clamps. Tie-down rods anchored to the cell base plate extend upward <br /> and allow the reaction force to be applied to the sample from against the top plate. A <br /> porous loading plate is placed in contact with the upper drainage material and a <br /> hydraulic jack is used to apply force to the sample. A digital pressure transducer is used <br /> to monitor the applied load and dial gauges measure deformation. The load from the <br /> hydraulic jack is adjusted to maintain the desired loading stress throughout the test. <br /> i <br />
