LaSalle Rd.
Montrose,CO 81401
970-249-3061
EXHIBIT C
PRE-MINING AND MINING PLAN MAP OF AFFECTED LANDS
1. Point of beginning on south end.
(Appelhanz Gravel Pit No.1) This portion permitted by Black Canyon Aggregate with a
110 permit, being one of the three gravel pits considered as finalists for the Montrose Airport.
Appelhanz Gravel Pit No. 3 was added with a 1 11 permit, to supply the additional quantity
needed for the airport. The above portion originally was opened by Montrose County in the 59s
to build the fill on LaSalle Rd straight upon the mesa and remove the switch backs used earlier.
This was before permits were needed. Gravel was later sold to contractors, with Montrose
Concrete being the principal user. Note, in the early sixties a earthquake in this area caused
the rim to slip in some places. This left a 90' slope in the slip areas. A transmission line being
located along the rim wasn't affected by the slip, but in time probably would be. The natural
slope by nature, with time, and the depth of the deposit was self evident. With this thought in
mind. I began the process of transferring the Permit No. M-91-096 to Base Products Grave)Pit
No. 1 Permit No. M-94-053. On Sept. 1, 1995 Succession Approval was granted. Revision No.
SO-001. I have completed having the Transmission Line relocated to the east of the gravel
deposit. Ten poles total.
Included with Exhibit C is a copy of inspection by Bob Oswald on 2/25/97. Note in
Observations, Bob and I discussed the following that I would like to include in this amended
permit. 1. Local Electric Utility move. 2. Add portion of land to the West that adjoins Delta
Sand and Gravel(S and R Delta Partner, LLLP) Permit No. M-94-097. 3. Where these two
permits abut, the pit floors could join each other without leaving an unmined ridge between.
Thus eliminating the sloped reclamation on both sides. I spoke to Mike Rlpp of Delta Sand and
Gravel in the spring of 1999. He was in favor. He thought a technical revision would take care
of his part.
Going North to SE corner NEI/4NWI/4, then West 275' to the marker is the NS
boundary to Permit No. M-94-053(Base Products). Open area North and East of Delta Sand and
Gravel that follows the rim of hill to NW corner NEI/4NWI/4 would include all but 450' that
adjoins Million Inns LLC. Total distance of fence lowered to Pit Floor, between Delta Sand and
Gravel and Base Products is 3519.86 ft. Mining would continue along rim toward the NW
corner on the map from the area being mined now.
