<br />Previous concerns by the Objectors were that the most likely Flow paths of <br />contaminants would be through unsaturated soils and not vertical flow to the local <br />ground water table. In response to this concern BMR agreed to install Three <br />additional unsaturated zone monitoring stations (lysirneters). <br />The information from all of the drilling done to date is drat the Santa Fe acts as <br />a very tight liner (with a moisture content well below field capacity) beneath the <br />synthetically-lined tailings pond. Since these are the same facts Ilrat all parties <br />had before them when the existing monitoring system was teviewed and <br />approved, and when the monitoriug system was expanded, unlegs anyone can <br />bring new data to the table contrary to the known geology and Ilydrogeology, <br />BMR believes the existing system is adequate. <br />-9- <br />
