if the entire excess naturals is used as subsoil throughout the flat portion of the South pit and the
staging area, this would provide an additional 5' of subsoil. Another use is to reduce the cut slope
to a grade milder than 2H:1 V
Valley Fills
The natural drainages passing through the pit will be filled using excess fines or overburden. This
will require approximately 210,000 cy to fill Valley # 1 and an additional 110,000 cy for Valley #2.
A letter has been obtained from the COE in Durango stating that these valleys do not contain any
wetlands or jurisdictional waters of the United States. See letter in Appendix B. Only reject fines
or overburden will b~ used to provide a homogeneous fill for stability reasons. Fill will be spread
in 12" lifts along the bottom of the drainage. Using shallow lifts, a 90% maximum dry density
will be achieved and is specified for this till. The spreading will be done with a ll-8 llozer equiv-
alent or larger. To prevent sediment from lea~ring the permit area during construction of the valley
fill, and prior to the installation of the storm water channel, an isolation berm will be constructed
at the mouth of the drainage as seen in Map C-Z. After the valley has been filled, the area will be
topsoiled in a similar fashion as the Staging Area. This will be further discussed in the Reclama-
tion Plan.
7. Water Information. Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust con-
trot, etc. is presented in Exhibit G -Water Information.
S. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will only occur as dictated by demand up to the maximum rates described ear-
lier in the mine plan. Mining, screening and processing will take place for 18-26 weeks intermit-
tently throughout the year and product will be sold from this activity throughout the year, although
less is sold in winter months. The operator will not have night gavel mining operations, although
minor truck activity or repairs may occur after hours. Mining, processing and trucking will take
place no more than 12 hours per day, 6 days per week.
Cugnitti 12!03 19
