FEVIS IDN NG, EFFECTIVE GATE PAGE <br />HC-QAC-02 0 1!06!92 91 of 104 <br />• Verify all calculations which use raw laboratory data, including sample <br />aliquots, dilution factors, linear regression calculations, etc. <br />• Verify that method specific matrix interference procedures were followed. <br />Check the analytical data which was generated for other field samples in <br />the same analytical batch in order to determine whether the problem is <br />unique to a single sample la possible matrix problem). <br />' • Review the analytical procedure with the analyst to make certain that the <br />required procedures and sample preparation techniques were performed <br />' correctly. <br />' Check the initial calibration data to verify that instrumental operating <br />requirements were met prior to starting sample analysis. <br />• Verify that all necessary instrumental quality control checks met <br />specifications during sample analysis; these specificatiorhs include the <br />manufacturer's specified operating guidelines. <br />• Verify that quality control sample checks were analyzed at the proper <br />frequency and that quality control sample performance criterig requirements <br />' were met. <br />• Determine whether an alternate method would be more accurate and <br />' appropriate for sample analysis. <br />• Review log-in and chain-of-custody information to deterr!nine whether <br />' sample conditions may have affected analysis. Specific items to verify <br />include sample condition on receipt, sample volume provided, bottle type, <br />preservative used, and unusual field conditions which are noted on the <br />chain-of-custody record. <br />When a definitive explanation for the problem cannot be deterrmined, sample <br />reanalysis is required (sample volume permitting>. Non-conformances and all <br />corrective actions taken to eliminate the problem must be documented and <br />included in the job file. If necessary, a case narrative will be included with <br />the final report. <br /> <br />
