<br />1 QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL <br />~i PROTOCOLS FOR THE COLLECTION OF <br />SURFACE AND GROUND WATER QUALITY DATA <br />' SAN LUIS GOLD PROJECT, COSTILLA COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> <br />t SECTION I: INTRODUCTION <br />' The locations of the currently-installed surface and ground water <br />monitoring points that are sampled under the CMLRB permit are shown <br />1 in Figure 1. There are currently six surface water gaging <br />stations, designated RS-1 through RS-6. Stations RS-1, RS-2 and <br />' RS-5 are located on the main channel of Rito Seco, and Stations RS- <br />' 3, RS-4 and RS-6 are located on unnamed tributaries entering Rito <br />Seco from the south (Figure 1). <br />There are currently ten monitoring well locations. The wells are <br />completed in the ore target zone, the Santa Fe Formation and the <br />Rito Seco alluvium. Due to the current mining activity, one well <br />' remains in the ore target zone. This well is designated D87-24. <br />The monitoring wells completed in the Santa Fe Formation and the <br />Rito Seco alluvium are designated M-1, M-2, M-4, and M-6 through M- <br />11 (Figure 1). <br />' The currently-required water quality monitoring under the CMLRB <br />permit and the Water Court decree in Case No. 89CW32 includes: <br />1 (1) Quarterly sampling at the surface water and ground water <br />monitoring points established in the CMLRB permit (CMLRB <br />Permit No. M-88-112); <br /> <br />-I <br />i <br />
