EFFECTIVE DATE PAGE <br />HC-QAC-02 0 1(06/92 67 of 104 <br /> Rinsate blanks measure the cumulative contamination from the rinse water, <br /> field sampling equipment, the sample site, sample transit, and sample <br />' storage. <br /> Decontamination Blank <br /> <br /> Decontamination blanks are samples of clean water which were used to <br /> rinse field equipment after or between field sample collection sites. <br />' <br /> Decontamination blanks measure the cumulative contamination from the <br /> rinse water, field sampling equipment, equipment contamination, the <br /> sample site, sample transit, and sample storage. <br /> Laboratorv Blanks <br />' <br /> Laboratory blanks are analyzed to measure and monitor contamination <br /> introduced during laboratory storage, sample preparation, and analysis. <br /> <br /> The contaminant levels in laboratory blanks should be less than the reported, <br />' method detection limit for all analytes. ~ <br /> Storage Blanks <br />' Storage blanks are samples of laboratory pure water which is stored in the <br /> same type of sample containers and in the same storage units as field <br />' samples. <br /> Storage blanks are prepared, stored for one month, and then analyzed to <br /> monitor volatile organics contamination derived from sample storage units. <br /> Instrument Blanks <br /> i <br /> nstrument blanks are laboratory pure water samples which ire analyzed at <br /> the beginning of an analytical run. <br />' <br /> Instrument blanks measure instrument contamination and indicate if <br /> corrective action is needed prior to proceeding with sample analysis. <br /> <br /> <br />
