<br />' SECTION 4: PROTOCOL FOR POROUS CUP LYSIA~TER SAMPLE AND PROCESS <br />i , SAMPLE COLLECTION AND HANDLING <br />' 4.1 Water Sample Handling and Manaeement <br />' Lysimeter sample handling and management will be conducted in <br />accordance with the procedures outlined in Section 2.1. <br />' 4.2 Lvsimeter Water Sample Collection <br />' This protocol outlines procedures and equipment for the collection <br />of representative water samples from the lysimeters. <br />' 4.2.1 Cleaning of Sampling Eai~inment: As the lysimeters are self- <br />1 contained, dedicated units specific to the site, n~ sampling <br />equipment will be required to be cleaned before sampling or between <br />' sampling. <br />4.2.2 Sample Containers: Containers used in the collection of samples <br />' will be supplied by the laboratory performing the analysis. <br />Various-sized containers, ranging from 100 ml to 1 liter will be <br />' provided, unpreserved, to account for various sizes of samples that <br />may be collected from the lysimeters. Preservation of these <br />' samples will be conducted in the field based on the volume of <br />sample collected. The type of container used for sample collection <br />' will be dictated by the parameter(s) for which the sample is to be <br />analyzed. A listing of appropriate containers and preservatives <br />' for specific parameters is presented in Table 5. <br />4.2.3 Sample Collection and Handline: The field sampling personnel will be <br />' responsible for complete documentation of sampling, which will be <br />kept in a Field Data Collection Sheet, in ink, for the preservation <br />' of all samples and for maintaining chain-of-custody records for all <br />' -28- <br /> <br />
