M-1981-302 AND
TURNPIKE PIT, PERMIT NO. M-1978-064
REQUEST FOR REVIEW OF DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Dear Carl:
Per our earlier conversations, enclosed please find one set of construction plans for
drainage improvements at the above named mining reclamation permit properties. As
you are aware, these two mining permits have been transferred into the ownership of the
University of Colorado. The University wishes to improve site drainage and minimize
the amount of water which is ponding and being exposed to evaporation. Some of the
vegefetion will be cleaned up that has grown up as a result of the poor drainage in in
certain portions of these properties as a result of the mining activities over the past
several years.
Please review the attached plans, profiles and details and respond back to me in writing
as soon as possible as to whether or not the work being proposed would be considered
maintenance of the site or would require a Technical Revision. We will not proceed with
any work until such time as we receive your written approval of this work.
We have broken down the work product into three separate segments of work due to
potential cost constraints. Following is a brief description of the work that is being
proposed:
DRAINAGE AREA `A': Work consists of clearing and grubbing of the Shaded Area
(See Legend) as shown on Sheet 3 and installation of a pipe system for better drainage of
the site. There will be no appreciable change in grades from the approved reclamation
plans. We also propose clearing and grubbing of existing irrigation Ditch (South Boulder
and Bear Ditch) and adding a Bentonite Liner to the irrigation ditch to minimize water
