04016
Banks and Gesso, LLC
Introduction
The City of Golden is presenting an application to the State of Colorado, Division
of Minerals and Geology (DMG), Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board
(CMLRB) for an Amendment to existing 112 Operation Reclamation Permit No.
M-77-534 for its Empire Pit. The original reclamation plan identified a reservoir
as the potential reclaimed end use. In 1994, the Division of Minerals and
Geology approved a Technical Revision (TR-1) to this permit which, among other
things, allowed a water storage reservoir for the City of Golden as the reclaimed
end use. In 2003, the DMG approved an Amendment (AM-1) to this permit to
document the final design of the proposed reservoir, and include additional
acreage to accommodate the final design. This amendment is being submitted
for the purpose of including additional acreage to the permit boundary to
accommodate stockpiles of mined material, and areas of potential haul roads.
The permit area currently consists of 131.66 acres located just south of State
Highway 40, approximately 1 mile west of Empire, Colorado. The proposed
permit boundary includes approximately 138.58 acres, with the additional
affected acreage being added to the northeast, east and southeast portion of the
existing permit boundary to accommodate material stockpiles and haul roads.
DMG 112 Permit #M-77-534 Amendment June 10, 2004
City of Golden -Empire Pit 2
