The Aquolls, uhlch have dark <br />colored surface layers, make up about 65 percent of the mapping unit. <br />The Aquen[s, which have lighter colored surface layers, make up about <br />25 percent. About 10 percent is Aqunlls and Aquepts, flooded, and <br />Bankard sandy loam. <br />These are deep, poorly drained soils. They formrd fn recon[ alluvium. <br />Typically [hey have motCled, mildly [o moderately alkaline, loamy or <br />clayey surface layers and underlying ma[e[tal, and arc underlain by <br />sand or sand and gravel vltl,in 48 Inches. They niay or may not have a <br />gleycd,layer in the underlying material. <br />Pfost of these foils arc subJcct ro Clooding. A ,:a[c,tablc i.s a[ or <br />near the surface early !n the spring and recedrs to as deep as 48 <br />inches by late fall in some years. <br />These soils arc used for rangeland and Wildlife hahitat. Some small <br />areas have been rcclair_~cd by ma]ur drainage and ]cycling operations <br />and is farmed [o irrigated crops. <br />Tl,e potential native vegetation on [I,cse soils is don,ina[ed by alkali <br />saca[on, svitchgrass and ~.•cs[crn ahcatgrass.
