<br />EXHIBIT K CLIMATE <br />A. Seasonal Precipitation <br />Meld County has a climate consisting of semiarid steppe with mod- <br />erately cold winters and warm summers. The area has low relative <br />humidity and less than 15 inches of precipitation a year. The pre- <br />cipitation is mainly in the form of thunderstorms, occasionally <br />accompanied by hail and strong winds. Most of the precipitation <br />occurs during the 140 day growing season. This amount is sufficient <br />to support native grasses and shrubs. <br />G. Temperature Ranges <br />Seasonal temperatures range between an average of 23.8°F in January <br />to 74.8°F during July. Periodic extremes find temperatures falling <br />near zero a few days each winter and sunder hot spells in the 90's, <br />lasting one to two weeks. <br />
