314 25'" Lane
Lester Moore
Measured well on 5-3-06.
Went down [0 50 feet depth. Still did not hit any water. Very rusty and muddy on the tape.
He still had water at this time. Fred Bregar felt that maybe the casing was filled with roots at this level.
Les said he though[ the well was about 80 feet depth, and was originally drilled around 1920. His property is the one
closest to our pit and at the highest elevation.
Driller is scheduled to drill a new 100 feet depth well in the next couple of weeks. His well pit will be able to
be used. New pump and electrical could be possible.
1 talked to Fred Bregar on 7-27-06. New well has not been drilled yet. They tried approximately two weeks ago, but
due to the wet and rainy weather they were unable [o get to the jobsite. They crossed on [he Mravocich property and
got stuck in the mud. Fred Bregar will talk to the driller and try to schedule a special drilling in the next couple of
weeks.
301 25'" Lane
Stanley Bilyeu (34!86 Ford Road / Vineland )
This property was sold to the above owners on 8-15-05. 1 still have not been able to find anyone home at this
address. I believe it is a rental.
There is a possibility that a new well was drilled at this location. I will try and find out something on this.
The owner of the property located at 401 25'" Lane has experienced some odor with the water.
Fred Bregar checked this out and found that there was a water softener/ filter located in the basemen[ of this
residence. He suggested that she change [he filter. It seemed that the odor is coming more from the ho[ side of
her faucets or the water heater.
(This listing is as of July 27, 2006, and was prepared by Mark A. Klune, V.P. Transit Mix of Pueblo)
Because a groundwater barrier wall is expected to surround much of Phase 2, the effects of [he
groundwater barrier wall on groundwater levels needs to be considered. Initially in Phase 1, dewatering
lowered the groundwater upstream and downstream from the operation. Downstream initial impacts were
completely corrected or even improved upon after [he installation of [he dewatering and sediment basin
systems. Now, groundwater impacts east of [he operation that result from dewatering are neglible.
Variations [end to be tied more to variations in [he river flow and drought or flood patterns than effects
from the operation.
Requrrem enr: The land contained in Phase 1 shall not be filled in such a fashion as to block
groundwater from being supplied to wells east of Phase 1. Phase 1 shall be backfilled with wash
fines, overburden, and other inorganic, clean fill such as solidified concrete.
DISCUSSION: In the 25'" Lane area west of the operation though, the picture is different. As
the list of corrective actions taken shows, there have been minor impacts west of the pit and these have all
been corrected in accordance with the agreements and sometimes beyond the agreements. One of the
reasons for including a change in [he plans for Phase 1 in this amendment is to eliminate sealing of [hat
area. Not sealing Phase I will maintain some groundwater continuity through that portion of the
operation. If Phase 1 was sealed, well levels east of the operation would likely decline after the operation
Pueblo East Pit Amendment 3 (2007) Exhibit D Page 16 of 34
