MINING PLAN
STEP 4: Overburden Stripping and Storage
Requirement: Overburden will be removed from each area as i[ is opened for mining
rather than over [he entire area all a[ once. (No discussion associated with this requirement)
Requirement: Overburden removed from lands mined shall be used to construct the barrier
berms of sediment basins in Phase 1 as well as final blending with wash fines to complete
backfilling. (See Page l7)
Requirement: The arrangement of berms and sediment basins in Phase 1 will be done such
that all basins have at least one side connected to adjacent undisturbed land, and
groundwater can continue to flow through Phase 1 to lands to [he east of the operation. The
actual arrangement shall be a[ [he discretion of the operator so long as the connection and
flow-through requirements are met. The arrangement shown on Exhibit C-4A is a possible
arrangement that would meet the requirements. Other configurations are possible that
would meet the requirements. (See Page 28 -The discussion for this item contains important
information regarding this requirement.)
Requirement: It is expected that the overburden in the plant site will not be removed at the
end of the operation, but if additional fill is needed the plant site can provide an additional
source for a large amount of fill to complete backfilling. (See Page 29)
STEP 5: Mining Phase 2 and Linkages to Phase 1
Requirement: All mining in Phase 1 and Phase 2 will be done from dewatered pits.
(See Page 30)
Requirement: Mining by any method other than the dewatered pit method described in
this plan will require a permit modification prior to changing the method of mining.
(See Page 30)
Requirement: Aggregates will be removed from the deposit by front-end loader and will be
transported directly to the processing plant via conveyor. No specific conveyor routes are
shown on the mining plan map because these will frequently change as [he deposit is mined.
(See Page 31)
Pueblo East Pit Amendment 3 (2007) Exhibit D Page 6 of 34
