Technical Revision 1
changed the shape but not the area of the peninsula. I regret any confusion that this
mistake has or will create.
This proposal should be referred to as Technical Revision 2.
ADEQUACY ISSUES
1. In order to leave the maintenance shop as a permanent site feature,
documentation must be submitted proving that the building meets the local
building code.
According to the records of the Mesa County Assessor the Maintenance Shop
building was built in 1974. Mesa County adopted the Uniform Building Code in
1976. The building was not required to meet code when it was built and was
grandfathered into the program.
My choice of words was poor when I said in the text of the proposed Technical
Revision 1 that, "United Companies sees the need for both of these activities as
permanent at this site and propose that the use of the maintenance shop building
becomes a part of the approved Reclamation Plan." For the foreseeable future, this
building still has value for this company. We would expect to continue our use of the
building based on our ownership of both the site and the building.
In the future, if the site is sold or donated to another party, the value and utility of the
maintenance shop will be evaluated by the new owner.
