Wells that do not have extremely slow recharge rates will be purged and sampled as described
below. Purging will be conducted in a manner that, to the extent practical, removes all the "old"
water in the well so it is replaced by fresh ground water from outside the well installation.
Samples for laboratory analysis will be collected only after a minimum of three water-column
volumes have been purged. If water is not present in the well following purging, then the
sampler shall wait 7 days and attempt to resample. If there is insufficient water in the well after
the third attempt, the well shall be deemed dry for that sampling period.
A and C Pits
A and C Pits will continue to be sampled biweekly until the installation of Well 1. Following the
installation of Well 1, both pits will be sampled quarterly. If four consecutive quarters yield
results below the MCL, then sampling frequency will be reduced to annual. If annual samples
yield results above MCL, quarterly sampling will resume. Sampling will be discontinued in A
Pit once 4 consecutive annual samples yield results below MCL. Sampling in C-Pit will
continue until closure. If there is no accumulation of water in C-Pit to sample, CEMEX will
record and report this information in the quarterly report. Furthermore, CEMEX will monitor the
water level in C-Pit weekly and presence of wildlife in C-Pit daily. Daily wildlife monitoring
shall continue until the surface area of the C-Pit accumulation water is less than 3 acres.
Dakota Aquifer Sampling
CEMEX will sample the Hall Well (Permit # 24324-A) for 4 consecutive quarters in order to
provide regional groundwater information on the Dakota aquifer.
Reportine
CEMEX will submit all data collected from this sampling and analysis plan to the DMG for
review no later than 34 days after the end of each calendar quarter. Attached to this report shall
be copies of analysis reports and summaries of all observations.
